Congratulations to our Hackster.io Winners!

We are absolutely astonished with the projects submitted to our Netduino contest on Hackster.io. Thanks to every one of you who contributed your Netduino project ideas and projects!

We’re at the beginning of the connected things revolution, in which many of these efforts are revolutionary, and are humbled by the folks that are out there working on interesting things. The best thing about creating a developer platform is seeing the great things that you, our community, create with it. Thanks for being a part of the journey with us.

1st Place Winner

Special congratulations to Fady Terek (fadyterek1995) for submitting the best overall project! Fady’s project Netduino IoT Aquaponics Systems demonstrates how a smart system, built with reclaimed materials, can recycle water to grow plants and food at almost no cost. The system includes a planter for growing fresh food without fertilizer and a fish tank to grow healthy fish.

The project showcases a well-rounded system that is constantly sensing the aquaponic tank, and using its network connectivity capabilities, sends sensor data to Firebase. It includes a very intuitive and well-designed mobile app using Unity, that is used to control and monitor the system from anywhere with an internet connection.

Additionally, documentation of the entire project is well-written and easy to follow. It walks you step by step from building the aquaponic tank with photos and videos, wiring up the circuit with a Fritzing diagram, how to set up Firebase to send/receive data, and shows you how to build and write the code for both the Netduino and the mobile app. Give it a try yourself!
